Etiquette

A set of rules or customs that are of a certain standard of behavior in a particular social setting. A code of customary polite behavior that occurs in society. Good breeding of conduct and procedure that should be observed in a social life. Et-i-quette, a word of French origin, is derived from (see ticket) that dates all the way back to the mid-18th century. A way of life that journied its way  into the  21st century, in the city of Johannesburg, at the institute called Nemisa, in the class of graphic design, interactive media, and annimation. This word ettiquette set up camp in our minds for that day, telling us its ways that we already knew but didn't quite know it was called etiquette, but still we adhered to its customs, whether it be in interviews or fancy dinners. We learnt that certain behaviors would not be acceptable at the institute and if caught not abiding to the rules we would be dealt with promtly, but in the true nature of the youth, our response to the this was turning it into a joke, pushing the bonds of its true meaning, intergrading it into every situation we faced through out the day for instance when somebody asked a "what if question" we would then say 'have some ettiquette' or if one of us was to ask to repeat what the other said over and over we would then say 'have some ettiquete' as if ettiquete was not present in a situation where a person could not hear what the other was saying,  or when a person would say  something that did not make much sense, we would then say the phrase again. For a minute, this devalued the meaning of the word, but like many trendy things the youth come up with, it died out quickly and like that it's value was regained after the shape shifting it underwent for entertainment, but on a serious note, once the jokes sapsided, a breath of fresh air was released into the atmosphere. It was so refreshing that boundries were finally established and respect was the tone of the day, to the point where people were apologizing a little too much. During that lesson I learned a lot about what I could tolerate and what I should not, but mainly how to treat people. Overall, a basic understanding was established and was understood. This was one of the many lessons that will catapult me into the industry with ease that I learned from Nemisa that day. I am looking forward to many more lessons to come.

So stay in tune ;)

  1. i 100% agree, it's pretty refreshing to be apart of an educational system that values not just your specific course but also humane skills that could be really useful in future scenarios, it's almost like they actually care enough to help us counteract the kinda stuff we as teenagers deal with daily like struggling with publicly speaking and how to behave in workplaces.
